For one of our clients in the floating production industry, we are looking for a Naval Architecture Designer (Draftsman).
Our client is a leader in Floating Production Storage & Offloading systems, exploring new frontiers like floating wind and carbon-cutting tech with expert capabilities and a unique, full-lifecycle value proposition.
Purpose
- As Naval Architecture Designer, you are responsible for supporting FPSO projects by producing technically sound and constructible naval architecture designs related to hull arrangements, marine systems layout, and vessel functionality. You ensure that the produced designs meet safety, regulatory, operational, and project requirements while supporting efficient engineering execution.
Responsibilities
- You are responsible for producing and maintaining naval architecture drawings for FPSO hull arrangements, general arrangements, tank layouts, deck layouts, and accommodation / living quarters in compliance with class, flag, and project requirements.
- You develop layouts that support stability, weight distribution, operability, safety, and maintainability of the FPSO throughout its lifecycle.
- You support naval architectural analyses by preparing drawings and data related to stability, weight control, draft, trim, and vessel motions as required by the engineers.
- You incorporate interfaces with marine systems such as mooring, offloading, ballast, bilge, seawater and marine piping into vessel layouts.
- You prepare and update 2D/3D models using AutoCAD and/or E3D, ensuring alignment with engineering inputs and constructability at yard/site.
- You coordinate with structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting disciplines to resolve layout clashes and interface issues.
- You ensure that the produced designs comply with applicable classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV), offshore regulations, and industry standards.
- You identify design constraints and risks early and escalate the unresolved technical issues to the Lead Designer or the Naval Architect.
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Design, or related field or a recognized design certificate.
Experience
- 0 to 5 years of experience in FPSO / Oil & Gas / Shipbuilding industry in the Naval Architecture discipline.
- Solid understanding of naval architecture fundamentals: ship layout, compartmentation, stability principles, weight distribution, and vessel operability.
- Knowledge of FPSO concepts, offshore vessel operations, and marine system integration.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and/or E3D software is an advantage.
- Exposure to FPSO hull layouts, accommodation / living quarters, marine systems, and vessel operation is an advantage.
