For one of our clients in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer.
Our client is a major gas producer in the Netherlands and they have been active in the exploration and production of natural gas offshore in the Dutch sector of the North Sea since the 60's.

The Mechanical Engineer will join the maintenance team, focusing primarily on onshore work preparation and technical support for a range of mechanical systems used in offshore gas field operations. You will play a key role in ensuring that equipment is maintained, optimized, and ready for safe, efficient operation in a dynamic offshore environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize maintenance work using the CMIMS system (SAP)
- Contribute to maintenance strategies and support continuous improvement in reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness
- Analyze mechanical failures (including trends and historical data) and provide practical solutions
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, legislation, and safety guidelines
- Monitor equipment conditions and follow up on work orders and notifications
- Coordinate purchase requisitions, service orders, and invoicing related to mechanical maintenance
- Support the Procurement Department with contract follow-up
- Supervise service contractors and ensure priorities are aligned with project needs
- Prepare and execute modification study requests (MSR)
- Collaborate closely with offshore mechanical teams and provide technical support where needed
Equipment
The role focuses on preparation and support related to the following offshore mechanical equipment:
- HVAC systems
- Well Head Control Panels
- Process Pumps (Centrifugal, Reciprocating, Screw, Diaphragm)
- Gas Engines and Diesel Engines (Generator packs)
- Fire water systems, including Diesel Engine and Pump
- Heat Exchangers
- Reciprocating Compressors
- Instrument Air Compressors
Requirements
- Vocational education or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Solid knowledge and practical experience with mechanical codes and standards (API, ASME, PED, ATEX)
- Strong understanding of maintenance strategies and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a dynamic technical environment
- Proven hands-on experience with at least 80% of the listed equipment
- Eligible for offshore work (in case of preparation for complex projects or retrofits)
- Currently based in the Netherlands
- Holds a valid Dutch working visa
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Experienced in SAP (CMIMS system)
- Background in the offshore, refining & chemicals, or maritime industry is a strong plus
