For one of our clients in the Offshore Energy Industry we are looking for a Structural Designer Topsides
Our client designs, builds, installs and operates offshore floating facilities for the offshore energy industry. They are a leading technology provider and they put their marine expertise and the service of a responsible energy transition by reducing emissions from fossil fuel production, while developing cleaner solutions for renewable energy sources.
Job description
As a Structural Topside Designer, you will be responsible for design and drafting scopes for offshore topsides structures, such as FPSO topsides modules, flare towers, and hull integrations. These 3D modeling activities will be performed using E3D software.
Key scopes are:
- Utilize 3D modeling software (E3D) to create accurate and comprehensive design models.
- Develop concept, basic and detailed construction drawings.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure designs are structurally sound and feasible.
- Prepare material take-offs (MTOs).
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards, procedures and tools.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay updated with the latest design practices and technologies.
Job requirements
SBM Schiedam is looking for candidates who have a BSc degree or equivalent (i.e. Professional Certification) in Mechanical, Civil, Offshore, Naval or Aerospace Engineering with the specialization in structural design. You have relevant working experience with the structural design.
Furthermore, you have following characteristics:
- Technical knowledge of structural design of topside structures.
- Knowledge of rules of classification societies (i.e. ABS, DNV, BV and Lloyds).
- Preferably you have experience with 3D modelling software.
- Professional communication in English (verbal and written).
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of urgency in tackling tasks and challenges.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills to meet organizational goals.
- Resilience and the ability to rebound from setbacks and adversity.
- Adaptability to new technology and sustainable developments.
