Senior Cost Controller

Accountability

This is a great opportunity for someone with significant cost control knowledge and experience to work in a strong project focused environment. You can look forward to becoming an integrated part of the project team by working closely with the project managers and managing a wide range of projects within a highly dynamic environment.

What’s the role

As (Senior) Cost Controller you’ll become an integral part of the project team by working together with the project managers. This means that you will consult and advise the project manager on the cost status of each project and you’ll jointly agree on the issuing of the Project Management Report (PMR). For the PMR you’ll consolidate all the relevant information required (costs, hours, planning, financial status etc) by interacting with the project team.

You’ll act as the ‘financial conscience’ of the project team and prepare/estimate all project change orders. Working mainly with lumpsum contracts, you think along with the project manager and provide input about topics like procurement and construction and how to best manage this from a cost perspective.

By taking a more pro-active approach to cost control, meaning going from a cost reporting to a more cost control state of mind, it’s getting increasingly important for you to be part of and play an active role in risk assessment and project progress meetings. This allows you to gain more insight into the projects and will ensure you’ll actually stay in control of the costs.

Based on your cost control experience you are able to keep a helicopter view whilst at the same time you know exactly when to zoom in and understand where to look for additional information. You are happy to share your experience by coaching and mentoring new/junior cost controllers in their day-to-day job.

We do not offer you only a job, but an inspiring journey in a truly global environment where we break boundaries thanks to the innovation, creativity, resilience and team spirit expressed by our people.

Qualifications

You’ll have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or financial discipline and significant experience (at least 7 years) in a similar position. We are open minded about your industry background but having experience with working in a technical environment helps you to succeed in this role.

Your English communication skills are excellent both in speaking as well as in writing. Your interpersonal skills allow you to interact with people at different levels within the organization and make you a valued part of the team.

You have strong analytical skills and are able to work under pressure but more importantly you’re able to meet deadlines and make important decisions whilst being under pressure.
